It has been eight months since I started learning German. The initial idea was to be able to go to piano factories in Germany someday to learn this craft in depth and in the traditional ways. It has not been changed. I have searched crazily on the internet for the best ways of learning, browsed many Youtube channels that looked decent, attended online group classes held by teachers in Germany. Methods failed, teachers that I didn't feel a connection with...... Just a note to myself and to learners alike who are looking for dedicated German language teachers, here are the precious resources filling up the time between work and sleep... and hearty homemade meals with Ernie. The order is based on the time when I found them. Lingoni. Jenny founded her Youtube German teaching channel more than 10 years ago. Later she and her sister Jaqueline made this into their life career offering self paced online German courses to the whole world. The courses are of level A1, A2, B1, and B2. Of course I'm still on A1 after almost a year of learning. Getting old... But the lessons are very well planned and structured.
According to an email from Jenny, "...our content is based on a combination of established frameworks and practical, real-world usage. We’ve drawn from resources like the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), as well as widely recognized grammar books and authentic everyday language. But beyond that, we always aim to bring real-life communication and cultural insights into our lessons... there’s no secret or forbidden knowledge — just a lot of passion, hard work, and constant learning!" The sisters are very passionate teachers to the extent of being crazy of their career. I love each video they create on Youtube. Luca at Comprehensible German. She introduces one picture story per lesson. In her lessons, one little picture becomes a big big world of words, phrases, imaginations, interesting sentences, etc. From a drawing of a boy, she introduces colors, shapes, movements, surroundings, moods, and much more. I take one lesson from her each week. Reviewing the lectures every night, I always find new things to learn from the notes she uploads right after the lesson. By now, I can tell a short story with the vocabulary gained from the lessons. All in all, Luca is a very nice, knowledgeable, and encouraging teacher. Her Youtube channel is here. Nadine at Berlin Connection. Her lessons focuses more on speaking and daily life language. She encourages me to speak, correct the grammar and vocabulary mistakes, and write it down on our shared note. With her, somehow, I never feel embarrassed making mistakes. She always gives me time to finish speaking whatever I struggle to express. So I try hard to use all I know to form sentences and tell her life stories, although the grammar is everywhere from being accurate. She gives a lot of homework pushing me to practice and review. I take her challenge and practice as much as possible. During and after the once a week class hour, she corrects the homework from the previous week, so I can review them over and over again. Nadine said for several times that she love her teaching career. I can feel it, too. So here they are, my language heroes on the German learning journey. Very very grateful to learn from these dedicated ladies in my daily life. Danke Sehr! Comments are closed.
